Basic Nitrox Diver

This is the entry level course for recreational divers to utilize enriched air nitrox (EAN) breathing gas.   This is a good way for divers to:

1)    Increase their safety margin as regards DCS exposure or

2)    Extend their bottom time or

3)    Shorten their surface intervals between dives.

This course trains divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using nitrox mixes from 22% to 40% oxygen without direct supervision.  Emphasis is placed on the physiology of diving EAN mixes and the analysis of the breathing gas.  Students will analyze cylinders and calculate their depth limits.  Two dives are recommended but not required.  Course duration is four hours.

Qualifications of graduates

1)    Enroll in an Advanced Nitrox course

2)    Enroll in a Decompression Procedures course
